Industrial Sergers and Overlock Machines
Whether you call them overlocks, overedge, sergers, overcast or merrow stitch machines we have one to fit your needs. All these names can be applied to a very wide category of industrial sewing machines that are quite specialized. Used on anything from silk to carpets, they serve two basic purposes. Either we use them to edge or we use them to join sewn goods.
Standard configurations include machines that utilize anywhere from 3 to 6 threads for a variety of sewing operations. However there are many variables within the standards, not only are there many stitch types, each machine is normally designed to do a specific range of fabric weights and types. For example, the same machine would not be used to join T-shirt knit material as would be used to join denim. Machines are also be specialized for for doing specific types of applications, overedging and blindhemming of T-shirts, overedging and inserting reinforcing tape and much more. Single needle 3 thread machines are generally used for edging.

2 needle 5 thread machines are usually used for joining woven fabrics.

3 needle 6 thread machines are commonly used by contract sewers and can be setup in a variety of serging configurations. These machines can be used for wide or narrow 3 thread work, or they can be used as a 2 needle 4 or 5 thread and they can do 3 needle 6 thread work as shown in the diagram below.
