Stock Designs FAQ
Stock Designs FAQ
Q. What are stock designs?
A. Stock designs are generally generic designs available to the embroiderer at a lower price than custom designs because many embroiderers use the same design. There are many stock design companies and many custom digitizers that offer a stock design line. Stock designs are normally licensed for use to the purchaser and have very strict copyrights and usage limits on them. Stock designs have made embroidery more readily available to the public and increased the popularity of embroidery. If your customer uses a palm tree for their logo with "Sam's Gardening" around it you might be able to find a palm tree from a stock design house that will meet your customers needs and add lettering from your embroidery software. Saving your customer the cost of having a custom design digitized just for them. It is essential that you read and understand the licensing from the stock design company, be sure you read it and ask when you don't understand.
